As a special kind of lie, white lie is both altruistic and deceptive. It often triggers moral conflicts and can be seen everywhere in daily life. It has a non-negligible impact on interpersonal communication. An in-depth understanding of the impact of white lie on interpersonal relationships helps people treat white lie correctly and use white lie to deal with events in life and work. However, the current domestic research on white lie is mostly about the developmental characteristics of children's white lie and its influencing factors. There are few studies on adults and the research on the content of white lie is relatively simple. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to systematically summarize the impact of white lie on interpersonal relationships in adult groups, in order to give scholars some inspiration, so as to expand the age range and content of white lie research, and promote the further development of white lie research.

Based on literature analysis, we constructed the theoretical structure of Chinese modest personality trait by open-ended questionnaire survey, in-depth interview and content analysis. Moreover, the Chinese Modest Personality Trait Inventory was compiled by drawing on the relevant items of the existing domestic and international modesty scales. Then exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis and validity test were further carried out. Conclusions: (1) The modest personality quality scale was composed of 22 items, including six dimensions: affinity, instrumentality, low-profile, enterprising, morality and sincerity; (2) The Chinese Modest Personality Trait Inventory had good psychometric properties, which could be used as an effective tool to measure the modest personality traits of Chinese people.

In order to compile the Cultural Attachment Questionnaire and test its reliability and validity, based on the prototypical model of attachment and extensional model, combined with the results of previous literature review, open-ended questionnaire and individual interviews, this study compiled the initial Cultural Attachment Questionnaire. Then, item analysis and exploratory factor analysis were conducted in the first sample (n=392), and confirmatory factor analysis, reliability analysis and validity analysis were performed in the second sample (n=679) to form the final scale. The results showed that Cultural Attachment was a multi-dimensional construct with emotional elements as the core and positive tendency, including three dimensions: cognition, emotion and behavior tendency. 16 items were selected and three factors were extracted by exploratory factor analysis, including cultural-self relevance, cultural emotional connection and cultural intimacy. The cumulative variance contribution rate was 71.23%. Confirmatory factorial analysis confirmed that the three-dimensional model fitted well. The results of reliability analysis, content validity, construct validity and criterion validity showed the Cultural Attachment Questionnaire reached the psychometric standard and can be a valid tool to measure one's experience of cultural attachment.

Advice taking is a process in which decision-makers compare and tradeoff advice from others and initial opinion of themselves, and finally make a decision. Drawing on the role theory, we examined whether the interaction of gender and the extent of linguistic concreteness of advice would affect advice taking. Our main experiment included 127 participants, who needed to make their first decision in a dilemma. After receiving advice of different concreteness, they needed to make a second decision for the same dilemma. The discrepancy of two decisions represents the extent of advice taking. We found that decision makers were more likely to adopt concrete advice, and the effect was more pronounced among women than men, confirming our hypotheses. We believe that our results reveal the different linguistic preference of men and women, as well as the role of gender in advice taking, which suggests we should choose an appropriate way to express our opinion to men and women so as to increase perceived utility of the advice. This study is of great significance for understanding how the concreteness of advice affects advice taking and the effect of different roles in the advice taking process.

Exploitative leadership has a long history in the workplace, but its theoretical research has just started. Based on affective events theory, this paper discussed the influence mechanism of exploitative leadership on employee complaints and turnover intention. The empirical results showed that exploitative leadership had a significant positive influence on employee complaints and turnover intention, and negative emotions had a partial mediating effect. Traditionality had a negative moderating effect between exploitative leadership and negative emotions, and exploitative leadership has more indirect effect on employee complaints and turnover intention for low traditionality individuals.

To develop a mental health scale suitable for Chinese employees and test its reliability and validity, after sorting out and analyzing existing mental health measurement tools at home and abroad, this research constructed the theoretical dimensions of our country's employee mental health measurement tools and compiled a preliminary measurement table of employee mental health. A sample of 1881 employees from various industries and positions in all parts of China was tested, and a formal scale was finally formed through project analysis and exploratory factor analysis of recovered data. Another formal test was conducted on 1,907 employees nationwide to conduct confirmatory factor analysis and reliability and validity test on the recovered data. The mental health scale of employees consisted of five dimensions, namely, occupational perception, occupational efficacy, emotional stability, colleague relationship and family relationship. There are 36 questions in total. The scale had good reliability and validity. The Cronbach α coefficient of the scale was 0.93, and the internal consistency coefficients of each dimension were between 0.76-0.93. The test-retest reliability of the total scale was 0.82. The model had a high fitting degree (χ2/df=3.75,RMSEA=0.04,GFI=0.94,NFI=0.91,RFI=0.91,IFI=0.94,TLI=0.93,CFI=0.94,AGFI=0.93). The employee mental health scale can be used as an effective tool to measure the mental health status of employees in China.

Based on integrating ability model of emotional intelligence with social exchange theory, we defined dyadic emotional intelligence as the ability of the actor to exert adaptive influence on the target's emotions at the dyadic level and put forward a four-factor structural model of dyadic emotional intelligence (increase positive energy, decrease positive energy, increase negative energy, and decrease negative energy). In Study 1, items reflecting dyadic emotional intelligence were collected through open-ended questionnaires (n=51), and on this basis, exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis was conducted using effective survey data from 30 teams to test the structural model of dyadic emotional intelligence. Furthermore, we developed and tested the reliability and validity of the dyadic emotional intelligence scale based on the structural model by using the above data. In Study 2, we further tested the structural model of dyadic emotional intelligence using the effective survey data from 25 project teams (102 participants), and examined the influence process of dyadic emotional intelligence on job performance from the perspective of social exchange. The results indicate that the four-factor structure model of dyadic emotional intelligence has been verified. The developed dyadic emotional intelligence scale has good reliability and validity. The dyadic emotional intelligence of the actor in the team not only directly but also indirectly affects his/her own work performance through the in-degree centrality of consulting network. The dyadic emotional intelligence proposed in this study provides a conceptual basis for in-depth exploration of the emotional intelligence phenomenon in a dyadic situation. The four-factor structure model of dyadic emotional intelligence and the development of corresponding scale enrich the theoretical system of emotional intelligence. Meanwhile, the effects of dyadic emotional intelligence on job performance and its process revealed by the research also expand our understanding of emotional intelligence functions.

Based on life span, life space theory and social investment model, the present study constructed a moderated mediation model to examine the effect of future work self salience on career planning. A total of 829 junior school students participated in this study. The results showed that:1) The future work self salience had a positive direct effect on junior school students' career planning; 2) The positive association between future work self salience and junior school students' career planning was mediated by career optimism; (3) The mediating effect of career optimism was moderated by career decision-making self-efficacy. The indirect effect was stronger for those with high career decision-making self-efficacy than for those with low career decision-making self-efficacy. However, the career decision-making self-efficacy can only play a moderating role in the direct path of the development dimension and the safeguard dimension of the career planning, but had no significant moderating role in the direct path of the reputation dimension.

The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between awe and narcissistic rivalry, as well as the mediating role of social comparison and the moderating role of natural beauty. The awe scale, admiration narcissistic rivalry scale, social comparison scale and natural beauty scale were used to investigate 650 college students. The results showed that: (1) Social comparison played a partial mediating role in the relationship between awe and narcissistic rivalry; (2) Natural beauty moderated the direct pathway between awe and narcissistic rivalry. In other words, awe had a greater effect on narcissistic rivalry when there was a high level of natural beauty. Conclusion: We can negatively predict competitive narcissism through narcissistic rivalry, while natural beauty can enhance the down regulation effect of awe on narcissistic rivalry.
