Abstract To develop a mental health scale suitable for Chinese employees and test its reliability and validity, after sorting out and analyzing existing mental health measurement tools at home and abroad, this research constructed the theoretical dimensions of our country's employee mental health measurement tools and compiled a preliminary measurement table of employee mental health. A sample of 1881 employees from various industries and positions in all parts of China was tested, and a formal scale was finally formed through project analysis and exploratory factor analysis of recovered data. Another formal test was conducted on 1,907 employees nationwide to conduct confirmatory factor analysis and reliability and validity test on the recovered data. The mental health scale of employees consisted of five dimensions, namely, occupational perception, occupational efficacy, emotional stability, colleague relationship and family relationship. There are 36 questions in total. The scale had good reliability and validity. The Cronbach α coefficient of the scale was 0.93, and the internal consistency coefficients of each dimension were between 0.76-0.93. The test-retest reliability of the total scale was 0.82. The model had a high fitting degree (χ2/df=3.75,RMSEA=0.04,GFI=0.94,NFI=0.91,RFI=0.91,IFI=0.94,TLI=0.93,CFI=0.94,AGFI=0.93). The employee mental health scale can be used as an effective tool to measure the mental health status of employees in China.
