Predictive processing (PP) has rapidly gained influence in the field of cognitive science. It has developed some new concepts and research methods. It attempts to provide a unified explanation of human experience. The research community of PP does not form a unified view, but has been divided into two different research approaches: Conservative predictive processing and radical predictive processing, which implies two different ways of understanding the mind. The proponents of the former hold that the framework is consistent with the neuro-representationalism, and it is a continuation of the view of disembodied mind. While the supporters of the latter emphasize action-oriented representation, and actively responds to the ideas of embodied mind. But both of them are faced with some cognitive interpretation dilemmas. This model provides a new perspective for exploring the mind, and phenomenology undoubtedly has important intrinsic value for its research on the nature of the mind.

Two experiments were conducted to investigate the interactive influence of punishment probability and the presence of watching eyes on dishonest behavior in a die-under-cup task. Results in both experiments demonstrated that dishonest behavior, and especially that of high degree, was deterred by punishment with a high probability. Moreover, results in Experiment 1 showed that the presence of watching eyes decreased the low-degree dishonest behavior under the condition of the medium probability of punishment, whereas results in Experiment 2 showed that the presence of watching eyes decreased the high-degree dishonest behavior under the condition of the low probability of punishment. Taken together, the deterrence effect of punishment in terms of uncertainty can be applied mainly to severe immoral behaviors. When people are aware that there is an opportunity to escape punishment, simple interventions based on the watching eyes effect can inhibit their dishonest behavior.

The relationship between beauty and goodness has always been an important topic of scholars to debate, but at present, most researchers only use moral words to study a one-way relationship. In this study, behavioral and EEG experiments were used to select facial attractiveness to represent “beauty” and fairness to represent “goodness” in an attempt to explore the relationship between beauty and goodness in the same context. Experiment 1 used ultimatum game task variant to investigate the influence of facial attractiveness on individual fairness. The results showed that individuals were more willing to accept the proposal of highly attractive faces, highly attractive faces induced greater N2 amplitude, lowly attractive faces induced greater P2 amplitude and FRN amplitude, and the FRN amplitude was greater in women. Experiment 2 used the dictator game task variant to investigate the influence of fairness on individuals’ perceived attractiveness. The results showed that the fair proposers were more attractive, and the lowly attractive faces induced greater N2 amplitude, and the P2 amplitude was larger in men. In conclusion, facial attractiveness can affect an individual’s perceived fairness; Fairness affects an individual’s perception of face attractiveness, but is influenced by the attractiveness of the face itself.

Investigating the impact of poverty on an individual’s brain structure and function not only contributes to a deeper understanding of the neural mechanisms underlying poverty psychology but also holds potential policy value and practical applications. Research has revealed that poverty disrupts neural development by depriving the brain of essential stimuli and increasing exposure to negative information. Consequently, this alteration affects the plasticity of brain regions associated with fundamental cognitive, emotional, and executive functions, thereby giving rise to psychological and behavioral patterns that hinder individuals in overcoming poverty. When applying the findings of cognitive neuroscience research to specific psychological poverty alleviation practices, it is crucial to approach with caution and open-mindedness, considering their explanatory role in existing intervention policies and maximizing their potential implications for future poverty interventions.

As an important risk factor for overweight and obesity, binge eating has recently gained increasing attention in the field of health psychology. At the behavioral level, binge eating has been linked to enhanced reward sensitivity and altered inhibitory control in non-clinical individuals. At the neural level, the decreased functional synchrony between the brain’s reward and cognitive control systems (i.e., the brain dual-system) represents the crucial neural substrates that could explain the potential interactions of dysfunctional reward sensitivity with inhibitory control in binge eating. These non-clinical findings are consistent with previous clinical studies involved in children and adults with binge-eating disorder. From a reward-inhibition dual-system perspective, the evidence reviewed in this study suggests that future research needs to systematically investigate the crucial role of the brain dual-system interactions (e.g., “correlation” and “causality”) in binge eating in the general population. From a developmental perspective of binge eating, it is important to further reveal the full range of neuromarkers of the dual-system interaction, from childhood to adulthood.

The purpose of this study was to clarify the shaping effects of challenging job stress on the taking-charge behaviors of grassroots civil servants, and to construct a dual-moderation model based on the job demands-resources model, introducing the organizational fault-tolerant climate (organizational resources) and employee resilience (individual resources), and analyzing the nudging and empowering effects of “resources” in the shaping process. Using a questionnaire survey method and a sample of 548 grassroots civil servants, the research results showed that: (1)Challenging job stress effectively promoted the taking-charge behaviors of grassroots civil servants; (2)The nudging effect of organizational fault-tolerant climate was significant, the higher the level of colleague fault tolerance, institutional fault tolerance and public fault tolerance, the stronger the positive effect of challenging job stress on the taking-charge behaviors of grassroots civil servants, but the moderating effect of superior fault tolerance was not significant; (3)The empowering effect of employee resilience was significant, the higher the level of employee resilience of grassroots civil servants, the stronger the positive effect of challenging job stress on grassroots civil servants.

In recent years, loving-kindness meditation(LKM) has attracted considerable attention for its proven benefits in enhancing mental and physical health as well as fostering pro-social behaviors. However, theoretical investigations into this practice are comparatively underdeveloped, primarily owing to an overlooking of its unique operative mechanisms. The most distinctive separation of loving-kindness meditation from other meditative disciplines is the strategic employment of linguistic cues to manipulate and formulate the content of awareness, prompting a profound shift in intrinsic experiences. This study divided LKM into two stages: “Self-blessing” and “blessing others”, methodically dissecting the process of loving-kindness meditation and the subsequent transformations in perspectives, emotions, cognitive processes, as well as the attitudes that practitioners may undergo. It postulates that emotional regulation, conceptual restructuring, and cognitive modulation are three pivotal mechanisms, ultimately leading to more positive experiences and a comprehensive improvement in physical and mental health. Future research is suggested to advance both theoretical research and practical applications.

The 2 factor model of environmental values scale (2-MEV) was administered to 915 Chinese adolescents aged 10 to 17. The data were randomly split into two halves, with 463 samples used for item analysis and exploratory factor analysis, and 452 samples used for validity and reliability testing. The results indicated that: Except for item 11, the rest of the item-total correlations ranged from 0.36 to 0.86; The scale consisted of two dimensions, environmental utilization and environmental protection, comprising 17 items in total; The two-factor structure fitted the data well; The reliability coefficiencies of each subscale were above 0.82; The correlations of environmental utilization and environmental protection with NEP were both above 0.5. The correlation between environmental protection and empathy with nature was 0.49. The revised 2-MEV Scale demonstrated good validity and reliability, making it suitable for measuring Chinese adolescents’ environmental values.

This study utilized network analysis to investigate the relationships between job burnout and psychological symptoms in a sample of 1143 primary and secondary school teachers. The findings were summarized as follows:(1) Anxiety emerged as the most central node within the psychological symptom network. In the burnout network, depersonalization and emotional exhaustion were the most central dimensions, with their prominence varying by educational stage.(2) Depression, depersonalization, and emotional exhaustion were identified as key bridge connectors in the overall and high school teacher networks. In contrast, obsession, depersonalization, and emotional exhaustion served as the primary bridges in the elementary and junior high school teacher networks. In conclusion, the core issues are anxiety, depersonalization, and emotional exhaustion. Interventions targeting the identified bridge symptoms specific to each educational stage are recommended for maximum efficacy.

In order to explore the influence mechanism of college students’ online public welfare participation on offline prosocial behavior and the moderating effect of social anxiety, 512 college students in Hunan Province with experience in online public welfare participation were assessed using the adapted scales for online public welfare participation, public welfare identity, social connection, social anxiety, and offline prosocial behavior. The results indicated that: (1) Online public participation positively predicted offline prosocial behavior; (2) Public welfare identity and social connection each served as mediators, with a chain mediating effect between them; (3) Social anxiety negatively moderated the relationship between social connection and offline prosocial behavior. The findings suggest that online public participation influences offline prosocial behavior through a progressive pathway involving public welfare identity and social connection, while social anxiety negatively moderates the effect of social connection on offline prosocial behaviors.
