The people of Foochow played an irreplaceable role in the “Western Learning, Eastern Gradualism” movement. The contributions of the people of Foochow to Chinese psychology are worthy of the expectations of the nation and are also deserving of the era and history. Currently, the only academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in the field of psychology is from Foochow; The first director of the Institute of Psychology at the Academia Sinica was from Foochow; The first president of the Chinese Society of Social Psychology was from Fuzhou…… This article introduced nine psychologists from Fuzhou in chronological order by their birth years: TANG Yueh (1891), HUANG Jue-min (1896), GAO Han (1903), LIU Jing-he (1911), LIU Yung-Huo (1913), LIN Chuan-Ting (1913), CHEN Yuan-Hui (1913), CHEN Lin (1945), and GE Xiao-jia (1954). It is hoped that this will enable the Chinese people to understand the cultural genes of those in Foochow who “study psychology”, as well as the inherent "inclusive and open-minded" attitude that they carry in their hearts, which benefits both the nation and the world.

Psychological immunity is the capacity to integrate cognition, emotion, and behavior to actively resist stress and sustain mental health. Prior research often treated it as an isolated trait, overemphasizing the psychological while neglecting cultural and physiological dimensions. An integrative framework is outlined: Culture as the “operating system” providing value resources and scripts, psychological processes as the “application software” executing regulation, and physiology as the “hardware” in which neuro-endocrine-immune networks convert psychological processes into health outcomes. Clarifying these cross-level mechanisms can guide localized assessment, cross-cultural comparison, multimodal research, and mental health promotion.

Filial caregiving burnout refers to the negative syndrome of physical, emotional, and psychological aspects formed by adult children experience during the long-term process of caring for the elderly parents due to the high pressure of caregiving and insufficient resources. Theoretical frameworks such as the Social Exchange Theory, the Job Demands-Resources Model, and the Informal Caregiving Integrative Model provide preliminary explanations for the occurrence of filial caregiving burnout. To address the issue of filial caregiving burnout, a series of coping strategies can be considered from multiple perspectives, including national policy support, social collaboration, community services, and family self-construction, such as establishing family caregiving subsidy systems, strengthening community elderly care services, and enhancing internal family support systems.

The moral decision-making task was utilized in this study to investigate the effects of facial attractiveness and personality labels on college students’ moral decision-making and gender differences. 166 college students were asked if they would give up their interests to help others in danger who had different facial attractiveness and personality labels. People with positive personality labels obtained more help. However, the difference in personality labels of male participants was more noticeable in the attractive opposite-sex faces, whilst the difference in female participants was unaffected by the attractiveness of the opposite-sex faces. The results showed that in moral decision-making, men were more likely to be influenced by the opposite-sex’s facial attractiveness, whereas women were more likely to be influenced by the opposite-sex’s personality traits.

In order to investigate the relationship between filial piety expectation and subjective well-being of the elderly, and to explore the possible mediating role of control strategies and child support. 225 elderly people in Chengdu were selected for a questionnaire survey using convenient sampling method. The results showed that filial expectation significantly positively predicted subjective well-being. The selective primary and secondary control strategies played a complete mediating role between filial expectation and subjective well-being, respectively. Selective primary and secondary control strategies and intergenerational support played a chain mediating role between filial expectation and subjective well-being, respectively.

Vicarious exclusion refers to the psychological phenomenon that one witnesses the rejection of others and feels the experience of rejection. Individuals at different stages of development have different emotional perception, cognitive evaluation and behavioral responses to vicarious rejection. According to individuals’ development stage, we systematically reviewed the specific manifestations of emotional sharing and prosocial behavior in children, adolescents and early adults when they observed the social exclusion of others. And these differences may be related to the different tasks and indicators, the development of individual empathy ability, perspective-taking ability, and prosocial behavior. Individuals at different stages of development have different emotional perception, cognitive assessment and behavioral responses to vicarious rejection. Based on the context of time, this paper systematically analyzed the specific performance of emotional sharing and prosocial behavior in children, adolescents, and early adults when they experience vicarious exclusion, and these differences may be related to the development of individual empathy, perspective-taking ability, and prosocial behavior. In order to enrich and develop the understanding of the internal mechanism of vicarious exclusion, future research should further investigate the behaviors and neural dynamics after witnessing others’ exclusion in the elderly and special groups. In addition, vicarious exclusion in the network environment has been a new form of social exclusion, future research should comprehensively focus on the negative influence of this new form on various groups.

Persuasion refers to the formation or change of an individual’s attitude by processing information related to the object of attitude based on information exchange. From the perspective of the neural response index (i.e., the activation of the medial prefrontal cortex and its secondary components), whether persuasion content has enough value for individuals to realize its benefits or self-relevance is the core factor that determines the success of persuasion. Many methods have been developed to improve the effectiveness of persuasion by improving the persuaders’ understanding of the value of the persuasion content or promoting their self-internalization process. In the future, we need to further explore the dynamic cognitive neural processing mechanism of persuasion, expand the scope of persuasion research, and pay attention to the cultural differences in theory and application practice.

An employee’s sense of work gain stems not from absolute returns, but from a relative experience derived from weighing personal benefits against inputs and making comparisons against a reference point. Drawing on Conservation of Resources (COR) Theory, this study investigated the mechanism through which downward temporal comparison influences employee sense of work gain, using three-wave survey data from 397 employees. The results indicated that: (1) Downward temporal comparison had a significant positive effect on sense of work gain; (2) Job crafting played a key partial mediating role in this relationship; (3) Social comparison, as an important boundary condition, negatively moderated both the direct path and the mediation model. This study proposed and validated a dynamic psychological resource adjustment model, characterized by the primacy of social comparison and the compensatory role of temporal comparison, thereby deepening the understanding of the relationship between these two comparison processes. Furthermore, the study empirically clarified a dual-pathway mechanism for achieving this sense of gain, demonstrating that it is realized through both a direct cognitive path of internal reflection and an indirect behavioral path of proactive job crafting.

This study explored the influence of unethical information’s ingestion on college students’ moral judgment strategies and examined the regulation of moral sensitivity, using Dispositional Moral Sensitivity Questionnaire (DMSQ) and Affective Misattribution Procedure (AMP). The results showed that: (1) The ingestion intake of unethical information was regulated by individuals’ moral sensitivity. Specifically, individuals with high moral sensitivity were susceptible to unethical information and had negative implicit attitude. On the contrary, the implicit attitudes of individuals with low moral sensitivity were not affected negatively by the ingestion of unethical information. (2) Adolescent students with high moral sensitivity were more likely to ingest unethical information than adolescent students with low moral sensitivity. (3) When the unethical information was consumed, adolescent students with high moral sensitivity tended to adopt deontological strategies, while adolescent students with low moral sensitivity tended to adopt utilitarian strategies. On the contrary, adolescent students with high moral sensitivity were more likely to adopt utilitarian strategies when observing others’ judgments, while adolescent students with low moral sensitivity were more likely to adopt deontological strategies. In short, through the regulation of moral sensitivity, the unethical information intaked by adolescent students had an impact on their moral judgment strategies, which made them divided into two orientations: The deontological strategy and the utilitarian strategy.
