Abstract To explore the influence mechanism of parental positive parenting on future self-continuity, a questionnaire survey was conducted among 641 college students. The results showed that: (1) Parental positive parenting significantly predicted future self-continuity;(2) Family support played a partial mediating role in the effect of parental positive parenting on future self-continuity;(3) Family socioeconomic status moderated the first half of the mediating pathway. Specifically, compared with low family socioeconomic status, parental positive parenting had a greater impact on perceived family support of those with high family socioeconomic status. Therefore, parental positive parenting not only had a direct significantly effect on future self-continuity, but also had an indirect significantly effect on future self-continuity through a mediating role of perceived family support and a moderating role of family socioeconomic status.
