Abstract Bandura is a representative of the third generation of behaviorism. Unlike traditional behaviorism, which regarded people as machines or animals, he emphasized human subjectivity and agency. Based on the five abilities that people possess, he constructed a social cognitive theory. Today, Bandura,s thoughts are still of great significance for psychologists to establish discipline identity by thinking about basic issues such as psychological ontology presuppositions.
