Abstract An event-related potential study was conducted on middle school students with mathematical learning difficulties and the control group through psychological rotation, to investigate the behavioral characteristics of mental rotation and the characteristics and differences of intracranial time history of the two groups of students. The results showed that the students with difficulty in learning mathematics had the defect of mental rotation, and their performance was worse than that of the control group. The results showed that the students with difficulty in mathematics learning were worse than the control group in task accuracy and response time. The results showed that the mental rotation processing ability of the students with difficulty in mathematics learning was impaired. When dealing with mental rotation, the behavior of students with learning difficulties in mathematics decreased, and the amplitude of P300 and P500 decreased.
