Abstract From the new perspective of structured processing of motor encoding, the current study used noun, verb and gerund integrated semantic interference tasks in the encoding stage, and combined the above interference tasks with subject performed task to explore the semantic processing mechanism of SPT effect in action memory and to analyze the role of verb, noun and gerund semantic processing in SPT effect. The results showed that: (1) Verb semantic interference task had significantly greater interference effect on motor encoding than noun semantic interference task, but there was no difference in verbal encoding; (2) The effect of gerund integrated semantic interference on motor and verbal encoding was significantly greater than that of verb semantic interference; (3) There was no significant difference in the free recall performance of interference items among the three semantic interference tasks. Therefore, the semantic processing of SPT effect in action memory is strategic, and the contribution of gerund integrated, verb and noun semantics to SPT effect decreases in turn. The viewpoint of structured processing of motor encoding were supported.
