Abstract Hyperscanning technology can capture multiple individual collaborators as a unified system, and then take brain synchronization as an indicator to explore cooperative behavior from the perspective of interaction and coordination between collaborators. Previous studies have shown that in different collaborative tasks, inter-brain synchronization mainly occurs in the brain area of the prefrontal cortex, temporal cortex, and temporoparietal junction, which are related to social-emotional and cognitive processes such as information processing, theory of mind, and decision making. Inter-brain synchronization is the result of interaction and coordination between collaborators, which not only reflects the cooperation state, but also is a potential mechanism of human social and cognitive development. Based on this, we discussed four potential directions that deserve exploration in the future.
