| The relationship between purpose in life and resilience in college students：The multiple mediating roles of self-control and general self-efficacy |

Abstract To investigate the relationship between purpose in life and resilience, and the mediating effects of self-control and general self-efficacy in the relationship, college students from 3 universities in a city were selected as subjects,and the Purpose in Life Test（PIL）, Brief Self-Control Scale（BSCS）, General Self-Efficacy Scale（GSES）, and Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale（CD-RISC）were administered to all subjects,the data were analyzed. Results showed that：（1）There was a significant positive correlation among the four variables.（2） Purpose in Life had a positive predictive effect on Resilience.（3）Purpose in life affected resilience through the parallel mediating effects of self-control and general self-efficacy. Besides, Purpose in life had an effect on resilience through the serial mediating effect of self-control and general self-efficacy. The results indicated that purpose in life is a good protective factor for resilience, high sense of purpose in Life promotes mental resilience through better self-control and higher self-efficacy.
