Abstract Phubbing refers to the behavior of individuals using mobile phones to snub others in social situations. Phubbing in work situations has particularities of industry, object, content, and situational diffusion. Phubbing not only hampers performance and leads to negative psychology for employees, but also diminishes cohesion and creates a disappointed atmosphere within the organization. Culture, organization, and individual can be moderating factors. The expectations violation theory, social exchange theory, and affective events theory explain the mechanism of phubbing in work situations. In the future, research can be promoted by exploring the process of influence, discovering the content of specific activities, and finding interventions.
