The impact of entrepreneurial knowledge on entrepreneurial intention:The roles of entrepreneurial self-efficacy and role model |

Abstract Based on social cognitive theory, this study attempted to investigate the impact of entrepreneurial knowledge on fresh college graduates’ entrepreneurial intention, especially to probe the mediating role of entrepreneurial self-efficacy and the moderating role of role model. A questionnaire survey was conducted among 423 fresh college graduates from four universities in Jiangsu province. The results showed that entrepreneurial knowledge had a significant positive predictive effect on fresh college graduates’ entrepreneurial intention and entrepreneurial self-efficacy. Entrepreneurial self-efficacy played a partial mediating role between entrepreneurial knowledge and entrepreneurial intention. The entrepreneurial role models from both parents and friends had significant negative moderating effects on the relationship between entrepreneurial knowledge and entrepreneurial intention. Specifically, when fresh college graduates had entrepreneurial role models to learn, the promotion effect of entrepreneurial knowledge on entrepreneurial intention will be weakened; On the contrary, the promotion effect of entrepreneurial knowledge on entrepreneurial intention was more obvious.
