| The relationship between academic anxiety and academic involution:The chain mediating role of academic satisfaction and academic self-efficacy |

Abstract This study utilized the Academic Anxiety Scale, Academic Satisfaction Scale, Academic Self-Efficacy Scale, and Academic Involution Scale to investigate 238 university students, examining the impact of academic anxiety on academic involution. The results showed that: (1) Academic anxiety positively predicted academic involution; (2) The pathway of academic satisfaction between academic anxiety and academic involution was significant but exhibited a suppression effect; (3) The chain mediating pathway of academic satisfaction and academic self-efficacy between academic anxiety and academic involution was also significant and likewise demonstrated a suppression effect. These findings indicate that academic anxiety can not only directly affect university students’ academic involution behavior but can also influence it through the mediating role of academic satisfaction alone, as well as through the chain pathway of academic satisfaction and academic self-efficacy.
