Abstract The current study aimed to explore the core characteristics of the network structure of risk factors for recidivism in the psychiatric offenders. A total of 300 male offenders (Mage= 32.46) with mental disorders in a prison from Guangdong province were investigated using the self-designed risk assessment scale for recidivism of mental disorder offenders. Results showed that age at the first offense and the impact of mental illness on daily life were important nodes in the network structure. These findings provide insights and extensive implication on the clinical practices in the criminal justice.
